what is fitness
Physical activity is just as important as nutrition; they go hand in hand. All those stats on the Big Three Diseases today (cancer, heart disease, and diabetes) can also be prevented in many cases by regular exercise. Don’t think of it as “exercise” as much as “movement.” See? Doesn’t that sound better already? Just move every day!!
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies”
everybody gets 1 body
God only gives us each one body and if you don’t take care of it, where in the world are you going to live?
Start simply…
Commit to walking a mile every morning, find a buddy and do it even when it is 100 degrees hot or 20 degrees freezing cold and snowing…. DO the MILE!!!
Then set bigger goals…. 5K, 10K half or full marathon!!!
In January of 2018 Rebecca set a goal to run a marathon ( 26.2 miles!) Watching her was exciting! She encouraged me to try a half marathon. I figured, well, I’m about twice her age so I should be able to run half as far, right? That’s pretty good thinking for someone who is bad at math. There was a half marathon coming up, and she suggested we train and run it together, so in July we started to train. She graciously ran at my pace (or she called it jogging, some days “chugging”). I was not a “pretty runner.” But we trained and I made it! I finished in 2 hours and 36 minuets!
